Program Notes

Catharsis was my first attempt to write an atonal work, written in May 2025. My process was to take a segment of a twelve-tone row, and treat it motivically while always completing the twelve tone row at the end of a phrase. I use explosive motion and exciting rhythms to convey a sense a catharsis separate from the pitches themselves.
